A difference between the US and CA

News Story

In Canada, apparently it's okay to endanger people's lives through stupid actions. In the States, you are told that it is NOT okay to drive while you are tired, etc. Putting people's lives at risk is not an excuse for "momentary lapses of attention." The driving up here in Vancouver especially is bad, and Melissa and I have been nearly killed more than just once. This is ridiculous statement made by the Canadian courts. I hope that the US government will speak out against this tragedy, for that is what this is. When those few, and yes they are few, horrible drivers come across our borders, and kill Americans, then the US government will have something to say about this attitude towards negligent driving hopefully. Even more hopefully, it won't have to wait until innocent people are dead.

New Paper on Acts and Speeches

I literally just got done with this paper but an half hour ago. Of course I have to take a bit to do the cover page, add the bibliography, etc. But this paper is due today (2:30 PST) and I wrote all of it, excluding the introduction, last night. I may be hurting when in class, but for right now, I'm really glad at the way it turned out. Of course I only say that because Melissa proofed it for me this morning over the phone (I love my wife). She enjoyed it, and that gave me a lot of confidence before I turn it in.

Minutes before I called her I had finished typing the last paragraph (this having major writing block all last night). What I am really proud of is my concluding paragraph. Not because I draw stuff together in a nice tight package and call it a conclusion. Not because I have made some profound point overall. But because I have used pronouns in such a way as to leave the meanings very vague.

"In this way Luke has used speeches in the same way that God has used his servants. He has formed them to be his witnesses. Their reliability comes from his reliability. And because he can be trusted in the minutiae, these witnesses can also be trusted to represent God’s message."

To me its a very chilling statement that really draws together the reliability of the Bible for me. It is reliable because God has made his servants (prophets, psalmists, apostles) reliable.

2Cor. 3:4-6 Such confidence we have through Christ toward God; not that we are sufficient of ourselves, to account anything as from ourselves; but our sufficiency is from God; who also made us sufficient as servants of a new covenant; not of the letter, but of the Spirit. For the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

This guy makes Joel Osteen look orthodox!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDxcyqeRc-4

Dear Mother Mary... This is an actual pastor and an actual sermon. When a prof of mine saw this his jaw first dropped, then he laughed in his Scottish way and said "Well, that was certainly a good farce." It wasn't until he looked up the guy's website.

Under essay's there's such enlightening topics as "Why the KJV is the Word of God without Error," "'Easy-Beliefism' Defended," and "Why Bible College is Unscriptural and Wrong." There's some bad pastors out there (I've met my fair share), but this guy... wow. He impressed me with his badness.

"The editors of the NIV pee sitting down. The editors of the New King James, they all pee sitting down. I'm going to tell you something, I'm not going to pee sitting down."

Brothers and sisters, we should each take a moment of prayer for this guy's congregation. I pity them so much.

This is a test of the emergency link upload system

Well my duckies, my jealousy of blogs that post a lot of links and papers online has come to boil. In doing so, I am trying a couple out directories out to see which I like better so that I can better serve you, the reader, as better thoughts from my mind. Here is a sample from www.fileden.com of a paper on Genesis 1 by Rikki Watts. It's in pdf format, as I hope all actual papers will of course be. My ultimate hope, have my papers on here so that more people will download, read, then cite them in footnotes. Mwa-ha-ha-ha-ha!
